Closer's city and distance-based matching system lets you find people in your area. Set a radius from 1km to anywhere, filter by city, and talk to people who are close enough to become real-life friends.

How Proximity Matching Works

When you start looking for a match, Closer checks your approximate location (city-level, not your address). You can set a maximum distance — say, 10km — and Closer will only match you with people within that radius. The distance is calculated using the Haversine formula between your city coordinates and theirs.

After 13 seconds of searching, filters progressively relax — first dropping country restrictions, then gender preferences at 15 seconds — so you're never waiting too long for a match. But the distance filter always stays active.
