Play Ludo with a Stranger -

Why Ludo is the best icebreaker on Closer

Ludo gives two or four people something to do with their hands while the conversation finds its feet. Instead of staring at a stranger and searching for a first question, you get a shared board, dice rolls you can groan at, and captures you can laugh about. If you are the kind of person who freezes on a call, a game is the easiest way to start talking.

2 or 4 players

One to one during a call, or four players together in a voice room.

Real Ludo rules

Six to release, safe cells, blocks, captures and an exact roll to finish.

Plays over the call

The board sits on top of the video, so nobody stops talking to play.

Free, always

No coins, no tokens, no energy timers, no account and no app to install.

How to play Ludo with strangers on Closer

  1. Match with someone - start a text, voice or video call, or join a voice room with people already inside.
  2. Open the game selector - tap the game controller icon during the call.
  3. Pick Ludo - the coloured board opens, and in a voice room you choose who joins the next seat.
  4. Roll and move - the six you need releases a token, then every roll moves one of your tokens around the board.
  5. Race to the centre - the first player to bring all four tokens home wins, and you can start a rematch in one tap.

Ludo rules used on the board

The Closer board follows the classic Ludo rules that most people grew up with, so nobody has to learn a new game:

Four player Ludo in a voice room

Voice rooms on Closer hold up to fifteen people, and four of them can take a seat at the Ludo board. The person who starts the game invites the other three players, and everyone else in the room keeps watching and commenting while the game runs. It turns a room into a table: two people rolling, the rest ready to shout when somebody gets captured. Rooms can be private with a password, or shared with a one click link that opens for guests who have never used Closer before.

How to win at Ludo more often

Ludo is a dice game, so luck decides a lot of it, but the decisions still matter:

More free games with strangers

The Ludo board is one of four games that live inside a Closer call, and you can switch between them between rounds:
